And Then There Was Ice

December 11, 2008

Ice on the Deck

Did it snow? I’m not sure.

I heard it snowed last night, and I saw a video of some snow in South Austin. But I’m skeptical that it snowed in my neighborhood.

When I went to bed at 9:30 last night, it was quite cold. We feel asleep to the sound of sleet and thunder, which was a nice change from the roaring Colorado blizzards I’m used to this time of year.

When I got up, it looked like there was a bit of snow on the ground, but it turned out just to be ice. Do people in Austin even know what snow looks like? I wonder…

It was in the 40s all day, and we pretty much hibernated. No walks. Lots of warm tea. Homemade bread. Big cozy sweatshirts.

I’m not a big fan of winter, but it was a nice change for one day. That’s about how much I want of it though!

Waiting for Sunshine

Waiting for Sunshine

It’s 9:30pm, and it already feels like 29F outside. My plants came in hours ago. I wore a scarf, jacket, hat, gloves, and extra shirt when I walked to the bookstore tonight. I just ate some walnut fruit Manna bread, even though I’m not hungry.

So yeah, it’s officially winter here in Austin. Even though I wore a t-shirt during the day today.
